The authors present the vision of 6G by reviewing the evolution from 1G to 5G looking at the driving factors, requirements, use cases, key performance indicators (KPI) and roadmap of 6G. The special resources for 6G, including millimeter wave, terahertz, visible light communications, and optical wireless communications are covered, as is a presentation of new air interface technologies including ultra-massive multiple-input multiple-output (massive-MIMO), cell-free massive MIMO, orthogonal and non-orthogonal multiple access, and intelligent reflecting surface.
